Kris Dutson
Kris Dutson from Compton Valence, Dorset, is a 'dyed in the wool' landscape photographer, renowned for taking photographs of Britain's notoriously extreme weather. With over 30 years of experience as a photographer, Dutson is an award winning specialist; specialising in climatic landscapes. Dutson has spent the last 10 years researching and travelling to many parts of the UK to photograph the countryside. With being self-taught himself, he continues to keep experimenting, embracing new techniques and technology to achieve his visions.
Dutson's photographs are his interpretations of the landscapes he witnesses; how he visualises them, what they mean to him and how they make him feel. He believes that the light captured in his images, creates the mood and atmosphere. The combination of light, shadow, shape, form and texture is what gives his photographs, the ability to summon an emotion within you. Dutson has always loved landscape, but has always wanted to show it in a more intense, dramatic way than most people tend to see it. He describes his work as atmospheric, with feeling and impact. Deeply inspired by Ansel Adams, he fell in love with the way "he captured the drama of his subjects and used the light to keep the impact of them in a two dimensional image." |
My opinions of the work.
I can relate this work to Adam's work because the subject matter is very similar, however the colours are very vibrant. The rainbow, I feel, would not be as effective in a black and white image because the colour spectrum would not be seen. This digital photography is related to me because I can also create similar images using my digital camera. |
